 Legend of the Five Rings (L5R) is a line of games set in Rokugan, a land of heroic samurai, mystical shugenja, and fearsome creatures from the Shadowlands. L5R lets you tell the story. The way you build your card decks, role-play your character, or even interact with the community of L5R gamers will affect the lives of the characters in your Clan!
Legend of the Five Rings has one of the richest storylines in all of fantasy gaming. The story has been created and driven by the actions of the players. The stories of Legend of the Five Rings are your stories, told by your CCG tournaments, LARP events, and online RPGs.
The Legend of the Five Rings collectible card game is a collectible card game for two or more players (in tournaments, generally two), each with two decks of at least 40 cards each (formerly at least 30 cards each). The game continues until a player has reached one of several different victory conditions, at which point that player is declared the winner. In the game's tournaments players can affect the storyline of the game, their deck construction directly contributing to the lives (or deaths) of the characters involved. This is in turn reflected in future expansions of the game, and the mechanics of the cards therein.
Legend of the Five Rings has many cards that are directly influenced by players and their actions. These cards often feature an attribution on the vertical right side of the card, which includes the name of the player, the event, and the date involved in the creation of the card or theme behind the card. Having your name on a card is a goal of many players of Legend of the Five Rings.

Stronger Than Steel:
Stronger than Steel brings the events that follow the Khan’s march on the capital to the front. With the Khan defeated at the gates of Toshi Ranbo, the throne of Rokugan sits empty still. Khan's Defiance:
The powerful Moto Chagatai, great Khan of the Unicorn Clan, looks to the Imperial City with disgust. The Shogun has refused to take the throne, and instead defends the rule of an ineffectual Empress – a weakling dependant upon others to ensure her power. If the Shogun will not take the throne, then perhaps it is time for a Khan to sit upon it.

Rise of the Shogun:
With the knowledge that the Emperor has left the capitol on a quest for Enlightenment, the Empire is in turmoil. The Shogun moves to seize power, though he claims it is merely to hold the throne for his brother. Many are doubtful, and see this as the resurgence of Kaneka’s long dormant ambition. The Empress stands against the Shogun, but his actions have seriously weakened her influence in court.

Drums of War:
War once again descends upon the Empire of Rokugan. The Dragon Clan, denied their destiny of Enlightenment, march against the Crane Clan who they view as nothing more than charlatans. Lotus Edition:

Code of Bushido:
Code of Bushido finds Iuchiban defeated by the Wolf, Sezaru. The Bloodspeakers are no more, their few surviving number fleeing to the banner of Daigotsu. The Bloodspeakers do not go quietly however with one final attack dealing a blow from which the Empire may never recover: the murder of Rosoku, last descendant of Shinsei.

Enemy of my Enemy:
Enemy of My Enemy brings a legend back to Rokugan. Hida Kisada, the Great Bear, returns through Oblivion’s Gate, determined to bring an end to Iuchiban’s evil. However Kisada is not alone. The Dark Lord of the Shadowlands Daigotsu has reclaimed his City of the Lost and plans to launch his own attack on the Bloodspeaker.

Web of Lies:
Web of Lies continues the Legend of the Five Rings saga. Falsely blaming Iuchiban's return on the Emperor's weakness, the Gozoku undermine Naseru's power. Working beside the conspirators, the Shogun seizes control of Otosan Uchi in a bloodless coup. Meanwhile in the ruins of Otosan Uchi, the Bloodspeaker Iuchiban's plans continue to unfold.

Wrath of the Emperor:
Seeking to wipe out the Bloodspeakers, Emperor Naseru calls massive witch hunts throughout the Empire. The Gozoku take advantage of the resulting chaos and fear to undermine the Emperor’s power. The Emperor begins to realize that a covert group is working against him, and begins forming his own secret organization of Scorpion to deal with them.

Hidden City:
Iuchiban lays siege to hidden Gisei Toshi, the city of magic, deep in Phoenix lands. Only the return of Shiba Aikune prevents the city from being destroyed, and the Bloodspeakers retreat with a number of powerful stolen Phoenix artifacts.
