Magic 2012

Magic 2012, like Magic 2011 before it, changes the terminology of the game by introducing the word "dies" officially to the Magic terminology, replacing the phrase "is put into the graveyard from the battlefield". The word "dies" was a slang term for this occurrence, with or without a trigger, before this change.

It also introduces a new keyword in Hexproof, which is similar to Shroud except the controller of the permanent can still target it. This ability used to be colloquially referred to as "Troll Shroud" in reference to Troll Ascetic, one of the first and most popular cards with that mechanic.

The keyword Bloodthirst returns after its initial appearance in Guildpact and a small cameo in Future Sight, though other Guildpact keywords will not. Unlike its appearance in Guildpact, Bloodthirst is particularly focused in black on its Vampire tribe.

The set will also see the return of Planeswalkers, though it will not be restricted solely to the original Lorwyn 'walkers as Gideon Jura and Sorin Markov have their cards in the set. For the first time, new (three) Planeswalkers are made for a core set. Like in Magic 2011, these planeswalkers get a number of cards referencing to them.

New Phyrexia

It came not in the form of a noble struggle, a fair contest of warriors clashing will against will, but as a wave of unstoppable slaughter. Mirran partisans resisted bravely, using their wits and magic to fend off the onslaught that originated from inside their own world.

But their efforts were for naught. Phyrexia is victorious. Mirrodin now goes by a different name: New Phyrexia.

The greatest knights have gathered together to once and for all end the reign of terror that has plagued their lands for centuries. Holy paladins, noble cavaliers, and swift skyhunters all answer the call to hunt dragons to the death and restore order to the realm.

For dragonkind, the answer is simple - incinerate the invaders! Enraged goblin minions pour from the mountain crags to repel the intruders, but that's only to give the majestic hellkites time to take to the skies and unleash a firestorm that no knight could hope to survive.

Shards of Alara isn't just one new world for Magic: The Gathering, it's FIVE! Each shard of Alara is missing two colors of mana, and thousands of years of evolution have led to five divergent societies that are completely unaware of each other's existence. Bant is a land of knights and castles, ruled by angels. Esper is a world where everything is measured and controlled, and artifice touches everything alive. Grixis is a hellscape of death and decay, where everything is either undead or dying. Jund is a primordial world where dragons sit at the top of a vicious food chain. Naya is a lush jungle world where Behemoths are worshipped as gods.

Future Sight SOLD OUT Future Sight

Three more planeswalkers are dead or lost. How many more will allow themselves to be led to the slaughter? It's not easy to convince godlike beings to risk their lives on the word of a man known for his lies. But the fate of the multiverse depends on it. For once in his life, Teferi can't run away. It's Time to Make a Stand.

Planar Chaos SOLD OUT Planar Chaos

Dominaria's temporal fabric is no longer fraying at the edges-it's ripping down the middle. The time-rifts have not only merged the past with the present, but also splintered the timeline into thousands of alternate histories. These divergent Dominarias overlap with the known world in bizarre ways, combining the familiar with the shockingly new.

Time Spiral SOLD OUT Time Spiral

Time Spiral features 301 cards, plus 121 special "timeshifted" reprint cards from Magic's past, with randomly-inserted premium cards. All cards, including the timeshifted cards, are tournament legal. Guildpact SOLD OUT Guildpact

The Guildpact has kept Ravnica stable for thousands of years. But with ten guilds vying to become the dominant force on the planet, there's always a chance that things will break down. Guildpact continues the story of this massive city, and introduces players to three more guilds: the Orzhov (black-white), the Izzet (blue-red), and the Gruul (red-green).

Ravnica SOLD OUT Ravnica

Nothing ever changes in Ravnica. For countless millennia, cities have covered the entire plane. Eventually, they ran together into one vast megalopolis -- a patchwork of grand halls, decrepit slums, ancient ruins, and layer upon layer of stonework structures. Of the world's countless civic centers, one looms above all others: the City of Ravnica, a metropolis so vast that its name has become synonymous with the world itself. It is here -- amid mazes of streets and towering gothic spires -- that the guilds vie for power and control.

Unhinged SOLD OUT Unhinged

It's got a keyword mechanic (named Gotcha if you have to know). It's got cool new basic lands. It has a whole bunch of donkeys and monkeys. It even has a set of parallel premium cards (what the world often calls "foils). It's good stuff. It just doesn't make any sense. None. Don't even try. I mean, don't try finding a story. Definitely try buying some packs.

The Darksteel set is everything you loved about Mirrodin and more: more equipment, more artifacts, more abilities, and even more cards. You'll find artifacts that are indestructible--which means just what it says: destruction effects don't send them to the graveyard.
