Changes to Weekly Tournaments

401 Games is happy to announce the following changes to our weekly tournament schedule;

  • Sunday Sealed Deck - $20 Entry, 12:00PM start time, $3 store credit per player added to the prize pool
  • Sunday Booster Draft - $12 Entry, 4:00PM start time, Prizes: Winner - Free draft and $10 store credit, 2nd place - Free Draft
  • NEW!Sunday Legacy (Every 4th Sunday) - $20 Entry, 1:00PM start time, Prizes: $20 per player added to the prize pool

For our weekly Magic The Gathering Standard, Sealed Deck, and Friday Night Magic events we have extended the prize pool to include anyone who goes X-1 or better throughout the event. For example; In a 4 round tournament anyone who goes 4-0, 3-1, or 3-0-1 would be awarded prizes.

Weekly Tournaments

Sunday EDH/Commander:

Join us every Non Legacy Sunday afternoon at 1:30pm for our weekly M:TG EDH/Commander 1v1 constructed event. A great way to have some fun and meet other M:TG players. Entry is $5 so put together your best EDH/ Commander deck and test your skills against other M:TG players in Toronto for a fun and casual evening of gaming. Prizes will be store credit given out to the top finishers.

Thursday Type 2:

Join us every Thursday evening at 6:00pm for our weekly M:TG Type 2 constructed event. A great way to have some fun and meet other M:TG players. Entry is $5 so put together your best Type 2 deck and test your skills against other M:TG players in Toronto for a fun and casual evening of gaming. Prizes will be store credit given out to the top finishers.

Friday Night Magic Booster Draft:

Our Friday Night Magic Event start at 6:00pm.
Join us every Friday evening at 6:00pm for our weekly M:TG Friday Night Magic event. We have a Booster Draft starting at 6:00pm. A great way to have some fun and meet other M:TG players.
Draft Format is draft of the most recent block so no need to bring a deck for this one. Just draft your cards at the event and build a new deck every week!! Entry is $13 and the booster packs are included with entry.
Prizes will be store credit given out to anyone whoe has an X-1 record or better at the end of the event, and exclusive promotional cards available only at sanctioned Friday Night Magic events.

Sunday Sealed Deck and Draft:

Join us every Sunday afternoon at 12:00pm for our weekly M:TG Sealed Deck. A great way to have some fun and meet other M:TG players. Format is Sealed Deck of the most recent block so no need to bring a deck for this one. Just open your 6 boosters (all product included with entry) at the event and build a new deck every week!! Entry is $20 and the booster packs are included with entry. Test your deck building skills against other M:TG players in Toronto for a fun and casual afternoon of gaming. Prizes will be store credit given out to the top players.
The draft will start at 4pm and entry is $12. The winner gets $10 store credit and a FREE draft. 2nd place gets a FREE draft.

Vancouver Grand Prix Trial

The event will start at 12:00 NOON.
Format will be Avacyn Restored Sealed Deck

Tournament StructureThe format for this event is DCI Sanctioned Swiss 5 Rounds sealed deck, With a cut to top 8.

Prizes

  • Credit for top 8 based on attendance. The winner will also receive 3 byes at Grand Prix Vancouver.
  • Prize Break down: 1st: 40%, 2nd: 20%, 3-4th: 10%, 5-8th 5% of the total prize pool.

    • Commander/EDH - NON Legacy sundays

    401 Games will be hosting EDH/Commander on Sunday, May 20th.
    The event will start at 1:00pm.
    Format will be 1v1 with standard banlist

    Tournament StructureThe format for this event is DCI Sanctioned Swiss 5 Rounds constructed Deck. Each player Will be required a 100 card deck along with a 10 card sideboard.

    • Avacyn Restored Launch Party - Sunday, May 6th
    Avacyn Restored Launch PartySunday, May 6th @ 12 NOON

    401 Games will be hosting a Avacyn Restored Launch Party on Sunday, May 6th.
    The event will start at 12 Noon.
    We will be limiting the numbers of players to 64.
    We will not be doing prereg for this event so if you want to get one of the FOIL promo cards get here early. :)

    • Registration runs from 11:00am thru to 11:50am
    • Tournament begins at 12:00 noon

    Tournament StructureThe format for this event is DCI Sanctioned Swiss 5 Rounds Sealed Deck. Each player will build their decks from their boosters adding as much basic land as they wish, to construct a deck of at least 40 cards. We will have basic land on site that may be borrowed for this event, just please make sure that you return any land that you borrow.

  • 5 Wins gets 15 Packs
  • 4 Wins gets 6 Packs

    • Draft Till You Drop - Sunday, May 13th

    401 Games will be hosting another of our famous DRAFT TILL YOU DROP events on Sunday, May 13th to celebrate the release of the new Magic Set, Avacyn Restored. Drafting will begin at 10:00am and will run ALL DAY (Store will be closing at 10pm, last draft will start no later than 8:00pm).

    Sets available for draft include;

    • Dark Ascension
    • Innistrad
    • Magic 2012
    • Scars of Mirrodin
    • 2010 Core Set
    • 8th Edition

    Entry FeeThe Entry Fee for each draft will be a paltry $10.00.

    Tournament StructureThe format for this event is DCI Sanctioned Single Elimination Booster Draft.

    PrizesThe top player from each 8 man draft will recieve free entry into another draft on the same day.

    Avacyn Restored Game Day - Saturday, May 26th

    Event will start at 11:30AM.

    • Tournament begins at 11:30AM

    Entry Fee$5.00

    Tournament StructureThe format for this event is DCI Sanctioned Swiss Rounds Standard.

    PrizesThe prize pool to include anyone who goes X-1 or better throughout the event. For example; In a 4 round tournament anyone who goes 4-0, 3-1, or 3-0-1 would be awarded prizes.

    Also while supplies last, everyone who participates will get an extended-art Latch Seeker. And if you get Top 8, you'll get a Killing Wave!

    Legacy - Sunday, May 27th
    LegacySunday, May 27th @ 1 PM

    401 Games will now be hosting a LEGACY event on the fourth Sunday of every month. On Sunday, May 27th come down at 1:00pm and win some great prizes!

    Entry FeeThe Entry Fee will be $20.00.

    Tournament StructureThe format for this event is DCI Sanctioned Legacy.

    The top 8 players after the Swiss rounds will advance to the single-elimination finals.

    In the case of an event with 15 players or less, the Swiss rounds will be followed by a cut to top 4.

    In the case of an event with exactly 8 players, there will be three Swiss rounds followed by a cut to top 2.

    Prizes(If at least 16 players)Prize pool to include top 4 players.

  • 1st Place - 50%
  • 2nd Place - 25%
  • 3rd Place - 15%
  • 4th Place - 10%.

    • (If less than 16 players) Prize pool to include top 2 players.

  • 1st Place - 70%
  • 2nd Place - 30%
